Encouragement from Rome

June 16, 2020 2pm EST
Presented by: Archbishop Jorge Carlos Patrón Wong

Archbishop Jorge Carlos Patrón Wong, Secretary for Seminarians of the Congregation for the Clergy, will offer words of encouragement during these challenging times in the Church. He will share how the Ratio Fundamentalis Institutiones Sacerdotalis, “The Gift the of the Priestly Vocation,” has been received around the world, and the Holy Father’s desires for the Church in the United States regarding the “Journey of Formation as Configuration to Christ”– from initial discernment through ongoing priestly formation. Most importantly, Archbishop Patrón Wong hopes to dialogue with our membership to learn from our lived experience.

Archbishop Jorge Carlos Patrón Wong is of Chinese descent but was born in Mérida, Yucatán Mexico. He was ordained a priest on January 12, 1988 for the Archdiocese of Yucatán. In 2009 he was appointed the coadjutor bishop of Papantla and was ordained a bishop on December 15 of that year. He became bishop of the same diocese on May 2, 2012. He was appointed Secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy on September 21, 2013 and was then made archbishop. He currently works in the Roman Curia as Secretary for Seminarians of the Congregation for the Clergy.
